Welcome to ARA!

The Advancement and Retention in Academe (ARA) Program was developed to support early faculty advancement and success through the professoriate by developing and implementing programming to: 1) build institutional mentoring capacity, 2) support faculty advancement via peer mentoring, and 3) increase faculty self-efficacy via professional development workshops. The mission of ARA is to provide programming that promotes a culture of mentoring and inclusivity and ensures that all UCR faculty regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, immigration status, ability, age or religious affiliation feel welcome, respected and supported.

Three intertwined phases will provide collaborative partnerships to promote the success and engagement of junior faculty. Phase I aims to build mentoring capacity at UCR by training mid and senior level faculty on best mentoring practices and equity and inclusion challenges. Phase II aims to build capacity for faculty advancement via a team mentoring program. Phase III consists of a series of professional development workshops to communicate campus policies and strategies for navigating faculty expectations.
